Education Questions

There is an issue with the arrogance, assumption of expertise & knowledge that I have seen in the education establishment. I spoke to a lunch group one time many years ago against required attendance. My issue was the increasing political influence in education. The attitude against what I was saying was that I didn’t know what I was talking about.

I didn’t graduate from college. I went to 3 of them over the years. So what could I know?
But education has always been a hot button for me. As things have continued to deteriorate into leftist political views, the problem has only gotten worse.

At the minimum, an education should give us a basic ability to read, write and do math. It is good to see many things about history (hopefully it is real history and not what has been offered increasingly since the 1940’s as history), statistics and basic accounting. We need to be able to seek information about any subject that interests us. Our computers are very helpful in all of this, but they can also make us lazy in using any ability and interest that we may have.

Many of the “Ivy League” university or colleges were originally founded as seminaries, or just where children could be taught to read Greek and Latin so they could read the Bible in those original languages. As American education as “progressed” that skill is still being taught in some of them but the direction is toward leftist, Marxist ideals. Our children are “educated” away from basic knowledge skills and indoctrinated with “proper” political attitudes and views.
I originally noticed it in the 1960’s with some of my own experiences and reading about others’ views on it. I was at Ole Miss when James Meredith was forcibly enrolled.

A continuous issue with humans is the real nature of truth. Any concerned seeker of truth is always dissatisfied with what may be found today that is called true. The issue cannot be satisfied with only my own opinion of what may be actually true. I have found too many things where I was not completely correct in my attitudes and opinions. I do not and cannot know everything, but I can learn more things about subjects that I am interested in discovering. We need a proper measure of truth and an awareness that some things we may believe may not be completely true.

Because humans are naturally so self-focused, there are no common ideals that are acceptable to everyone. All of us don’t support every ideal. What must be sought are parts of different things that can be supported by a majority of us. The American ideals of freedom are that. It is all under attack today. The attack is by leftists who only work for their own power. Most of the issues today are sourced in those efforts.

I am seeing today that many young adults who have been “educated” to view everything through the Leftists’ lenses are discovering that there are other ways to look at things. I like that! Those people, like me, are disgusted with the basic monoculture leftism. It doesn’t satisfy their seeking true, real truth!

Getting along together requires being open to new ideas. We also need to be able to personally
evaluate what we are seeing and hearing. If we can’t ask questions, it is impossible to test our views for validity:
Experts, valid experts, don’t have a problem with questions.
Invalid, self-proclaimed or real ones don’t like questions.
This is an early test when we get interested in a subject. Another test when someone talks a long time and leaves us confused or we don’t remember the question. Some people will misdirect their answers to their doctrinaire views, especially when a “yes or no” answer would be sufficient.

Most of us will experience good teachers in our lives. I had many of them. I still listen to some of them that are still alive. Some of them are not educators today. As my grandchildren are growing up, I want them to have good teachers. I don’t want them indoctrinated, especially in leftist views and opinions. I want them open but curious and cautious. I prefer that they be aware of the various belief systems but not forced to accept any of them. Freedom includes freedom of choice. Force destroys freedom of choice. This also applies to education.
Monocultural leftism destroys everything, including valid education!

Education is supposed to be a toolbox, not a religion! Especially, it shouldn’t be a leftist religion. This is what many things are becoming today.

These concerns apply to all issues today!

God's Image

This is one of my meditations and themes for the last several years. It is like a unfathomable, universe-wide subject. This is a good starting discussion of this subject. It is packed with meaning.

Humans are made in GOD’s Image and HIS likeness.

That Image in humans is this: our individual spirit & attributes.

The reason is so that we can relate to HIM. Our excuse that GOD isn’t human and a figment of our imagination is totally destroyed by Jesus. Freedom is in this discussion.

GOD created humans to be able to relate to HIM. Jesus came to be our individual, sinless Lamb of sacrifice. He will come again as the Messiah that the Jews are expecting but it will be to return believers (all those who have chosen to believe forever) to the Eden relationship with GOD. {The Biblical book of Leviticus is what perfect obedience would look like.
I finally understand its meaning and use.}

What GOD and a human creates are reflections of themselves. They are alike enough for the ...

(updated 5/24/2023 je)

While it is humanly impossible for humans to be totally good, we always can do much better than we have been doing if we individually want to do so! There is no concept that humans can totally achieve in this life. This applies individually, in groups or collectively.

The pathologies of today’s culture are apparent. However, they are called benefits & loudly proclaimed. They must be clearly seen as dangerous & wrong to our once-free country!
They are deliberately destroying Christianity, our country, our families, our individual personhood & our individual freedoms. Does this seem to be too extreme a statement?

Our media are calling evil “good” & good “evil”. Should that be totally right & silently allowed? Free speech & opinions must not live there? Freedom of speech is not absolute. This severe problem should be curtailed & limited within the proper bounds & situations!
Is it possible or allowed to seek those limits that do not destroy freedom of speech itself?

I do not support ANY, ANY political personality cults!!!! Left, Right, middle, it doesn’t matter! If you take the political part out, it is still so! Is this clear enough? I don’t support cultish “groupyism”!

My expectation is that any American who wishes to serve America in a political office would speak and act in support of our cherished American principles that are reflected in the best writings of our founders and all sensible people since then!

I am disgusted by the pragmatic politics and the excessive partisanship that the media love, especially for Democrats, it seems. I am disgusted with the pro-to-total leftism in our media. They do not represent thinking, peaceful citizens’ views! Individual humans are all over the belief spectrum with the issues. That is why discussion is necessary!

The people that I enjoy watching and reading at least attempt to tell the truth as they see it and are willing to listen to varying opinions and discuss them! From libertarian to center ...
